Election
Who Is Eligible To Vote?
All OpenSU members are eligible to vote on most roles such as President, Deputy President, Trustee or Representative. All Open University students are members of the OpenSU unless they have opted out. Area representative roles such as the ones for Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales and International can only be voted on by students in those areas
When Is The Election Happening?
The election spans over the campaign period and voting period. The campaign period begins on 9th April and the voting period begins on the 17th April, both periods end on the 6th May
What Voting System Will Be Used?
Single transferable vote will be used. This system allows voters to rank candidates instead of only being able to choose one. Candidates may rank just a first preference or multiple preferences such as first, second and third. STV is currently used for local elections in Scotland and Northern Ireland
When Will The Results Be Announced?
The results are scheduled to be announced on the 8th May, two days after voting closes
